The year 2020 has shone a spotlight on the actions of essential workers and first responders across the state of Oklahoma and the country as a whole. These courageous people have put their health and well-being on the line to serve their communities as they diligently do their jobs daily. However, they often don’t get the benefits or recognition that they deserve for their service. The Wickshire Senior Living Oklahoma City community wants to remedy this and give back to our community, so we’ve created some benefits for essential workers every Wednesday. All About Wickshire Wednesdays
The coronavirus pandemic closed down communities around the country, leading to an outpouring of gratitude to those who kept the United States going, whether these individuals are essential workers or first responders. In most cases, these jobs don’t offer much pay, but we want to give back to those who have sacrificed so much for our community. This desire led us to create the Wickshire Wednesday program, which allows our team to spread hope to those who have given us support.
On Wickshire Wednesdays, we provide free breakfasts to law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, city employees, and many more workers. In addition, we offer food that first responders can take with them to give to people in need they meet while they’re doing their job.
The pandemic has shown everyone’s need to join together to support each other and appreciate one another’s actions. Let our team provide benefits for essential workers and first responders, allowing us to encourage the people around us and recognize the hard work they do each day. To learn more about this program and how you can be a part of it, please call Wickshire Senior Living Oklahoma City today at 833.497.4390.
Why Does Giving Back to the Community Matter?
In our community, we believe that it is vital to give back and volunteer our time. It allows our residents, staff, and family members to broaden our horizons and create relationships with people that we might not have the opportunity to meet if we didn’t serve them. While our Wickshire Wednesday program is an excellent way to start, we also provide a range of options for our community to give back, including:
- Meals on Wheels
- Wise and Well personalized care program
- Holiday volunteer opportunities
- Year-round volunteer programs
When you donate your time and energy to your community, you not only make it a better place. You also learn about people of different backgrounds and increase your self-confidence.
Volunteering also benefits the people that you’re working with and supporting. For instance, Wickshire Senior Living Oklahoma City couldn’t be the thriving community we are without our volunteers. When we have volunteers come to our assisted living community, they help people who are often less fortunate. Doing so unites people of various backgrounds creating a more well-rounded society.
At Wickshire Senior Living Oklahoma City, we proudly serve our community by providing benefits for essential workers and through other services.
